Start Taking GOD Seriously
Micah 6:7-8
NLT 7 Should we offer Him thousands of rams and ten thousand rivers of olive oil . . . 8 No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
There are serious consequences for mistaking what it is that GOD requires of us. Especially if we mistake the things we think we should be doing in order to live holy lives that honor and please GOD, only to find out these are the complete opposite of what GOD requires of us. Remember this, it is by grace that we have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ, GOD’s only Son, not by any works, it is the GIFT of GOD.
And even though we are now called to live a life filled with good works, let us be sure that these works are in line with the Almighty Creator. Stop a moment and consider the time that GOD pleaded with His people, Israel, to get back on track. The people thought all their sacrifices were what pleased Him. But through Micah, GOD said, “No, you have wearied Me”. You are off track!
Micah 6:8 is key—and it can be simply paraphrased this way — “take GOD very seriously”. Can you honestly say that you are . . . It shows up in many ways . . . starting with the faithful worship of our SAVIOUR each week
Remember, it is not about us at all, it is about taking HIM very seriously!
